Early return to the MidEast take 2
I guess it sgould not be completely unexpected in a place called Dar Es Salaam to stumble upon an event celebrating Arab culture. One of the big hotels in Dar was hasting a 1001 Arabian Nights dinner and show and I ended up with a complimentary ticket. And the hummus flow restarts.

Hairiri, Hizbullah, or Hardees
Upcoming elections in Lebanon have prompted a massive postering campaign in Beirut. Apparently the parties running include the incumbents led by Rafik Hairiri’s son (poster: his face and some cedar imagry), Hizbullah (poster: graphic of a fist clutching an automatic rifle and some words in Arabic ominously crossed out in red) and the fast food chain Hardees (poster: “vote for taste, vote for quality, vote for Hardees). If poster volume is any indication we will all be trying to establish diplomatic relations with a double patty burger come June.
